Most Iconic Teen Movie Insults

“You’re just a virgin who can’t drive.”

I’m a sucker for the dialogue in teen movies.

Paramount Pictures

There are SO MANY iconic phrases and quotes.

ESPECIALLY when someone utterly decimates another character in just a few words. Here are some of the most iconic takedowns from teen movies:

When Fiona knocked Sam down a few pegs in A Cinderella Story:

Warner Bros. Pictures

“You’re not very pretty, and you’re not very bright.” I mean, she was wrong, but STILL!

When Viola broke up with Monique for Sebastian and did NOT pull any punches in She’s the Man:

DreamWorks Pictures

“When I close my eyes, I see you for who you truly are. Which is UUUG-LAY!” Absolutely iconic.

When Jenna was very straightforward with her feelings in 13 Going on 30:

Sony Pictures Releasing

“You are rude and mean and sloppy and frizzy. I don’t like you at all.” Remind me to use this insult next time I meet someone I don’t vibe with.

When Damien was told to get out of the girls’ bathroom and had the best comeback in Mean Girls:

Paramount Pictures

“Oh my god, Danny DeVito! I love your work!” Savage.

When Torrance caught her boyfriend cheating and paid him back with the same line he told her earlier in the film in Bring It On:

Universal Pictures

“You’re a great cheerleader, Aaron. It’s just that…maybe you’re not exactly ‘boyfriend material.'” YOU TELL HIM, TORRANCE!

When Sam told Austin how she really felt about his behavior in A Cinderella Story:

Warner Bros. Pictures

“Waiting for you is like waiting for rain in this drought. Useless and disappointing.” What a simile!!

When Tai doled out this iconic insult in Clueless:

Paramount Pictures

“You’re a virgin who can’t drive.” Way harsh, Tai!

When Mike gave this epic speech about Stan in front of the entire school in 17 Again:

Warner Bros. Pictures

“Stan has a small wiener.” My mom and I still quote this speech to each other.

When Regina told Cady how the whole school felt about her in Mean Girls:

Paramount Pictures

“They say that you’re a home-schooled jungle freak who’s a less hot version of me.” Damn, Regina!

When Heather summed up how we all felt about John in John Tucker Must Die:

20th Century Fox

“Hasta la vista, motherfucker!” Yasssss.

When Viola took five seconds to utterly decimate Justin’s life in She’s the Man:

DreamWorks Pictures

“First of all, it’s not a stupid soccer issue, and you’re a jerk. Ah, look at that! Time’s up!” Viola managed to attend the carnival as herself, masquerade as her brother, kiss Duke, AND take down Justin. Your fave could never.

When Shawnee insulted Monica’s dress in Love & Basketball:

New Line Cinema

“Damn, girl. I didn’t know Nike made dresses.” Technically, I think they do now?

When Tess coined this iconic phrase and accompanying movement in Camp Rock:

Disney Channel

“Whatever major loser!” The line quoted by 2000s girls everywhere.

When Chad roasted Sharpay so well, the entire team lost it in High School Musical:

Disney Channel

“She spent the holidays the way she always does. Shopping for mirrors!” The fact that they all thought this was an epic burn…

When Whitney had a clever insult in Bring it On:

Universal Pictures

“She puts the ‘itch’ in bitch.” Good one, Whit.

And a player on the opposing team handed John this…not so clever one in John Tucker Must Die:

20th Century Fox

“If I wanted to listen to an asshole, I would have farted.” I mean, hey, it’s still a good insult.

When Olive told Nina exactly how she felt about her in Easy A:

Screen Gems

“You abominable twat.” Move over, Abominable Snowman.

When a member of Martha’s brainiac clique insulted her dance moves in High School Musical:

Disney Channel

“Is that even legal?” DUDE.

When Bianca and Kat insulted each other in a way only sisters can in 10 Things I Hate About You:

Buena Vista Pictures

“Where did you come from? Planet Loser?”

“As opposed to Planet ‘Look at me, look at me!'”

These insults are just stupid enough to be great.

When Jenelope showed the Toros that they weren’t even worth her time in Bring It On:

Universal Pictures

“Can we just beat these Buffys down so I can go home?” Girl had some Netflix to watch.

When Kat had the best comeback after Joey insulted her in class in 10 Things I Hate About You:

Buena Vista Pictures

“I guess in this society being male and an asshole makes you worthy of our time.” YES GIRL!!!

When Olive showed Rhiannon how little she cared about her opinion in Easy A:

Screen Gems

“No. That was a rhetorical question. I don’t wanna know anything from you.” Wowwwwwww.

And finally, when Kip uttered this really stupid “comeback” that nevertheless became a classic phrase we still use today in Napoleon Dynamite:

Fox Searchlight Pictures

“Your MOM goes to college!” “Your mom” is still the best way to respond to an insult, and that’s ~impact~.
